Private Childbirth Education and Prenatal Visits

As your doula I am here to support you emotionally, mentally, and physically. In each session, we will customize your visit to include: childbirth education, prenatal education, birth plan creation, birth preferences and options at your birthing location, comfort measures and pushing positions. I also offer families postpartum visits where I will come to your home after your baby is born to go over your birth experience and help you adjust to postpartum life.

What comes in your private childbirth education package?

This package is fully customizable, with sessions lasting 1-3 hours on average. Families have the option of booking one to five sessions per pregnancy (starting around $150), and one postpartum visit. Whether it’s one on one support, or you and your whole family present, together we can assess your needs and come up with a plan to prepare you for the remainder of your pregnancy, labor and delivery, and postpartum experience!

What happens during a private childbirth education class?

Prior to our visit, we will have an intake call where we assess your families needs and the topics you wish to cover to help you feel informed and empowered for your birth. Upon arrival, we will discuss your chosen topic and come up with an action plan to help you achieve your goals.

What topics can be covered in childbirth education?

You can use these virtual or in-person sessions with me to come up with a birth plan, learn your options for labor monitoring & interventions, a full childbirth ed class, newborn care class, postpartum care and recovery planning, learn comfort measures your partner can perform on you while you labor, advice with babywearing or babyproofing, and SO much more!

What happens during a postpartum visit?

During a postpartum visit I focus on emotionally supporting new parents and helping them process their birth experience, in addition to any assistance needed with feeding, newborn education, babywearing education, and postpartum recovery information.

Are these covered by insurance?

Maybe! If you have TRICARE you are eligible to have six hours covered through your insurance provider. I can also create super bills for you to submit to your insurance (like Carrot). Most health insurances that have an FSA/HSA flex spending account allow for doula services to be covered. Contact your insurance provider for further info!

Is this the same as labor support?

Private classes are a smaller offering than labor doula services (my labor doula package includes two visits!). This offering is better suited for those that would like to meet with a doula and have some support prior to their labor, but will not have a doula attending their birth. With my extensive training and personal experience, I help you create your birth plan and advocate for yourself through our in person or virtual meetings.

Want virtual labor support? We can discuss adding that on to these sessions!

What area do you currently serve?

Since these visits can be virtual or in person there is not limitation in the United States of who I can support. I currently provide these in person to families in the Omaha, Offutt Air Force Base, Bellevue, Papillion, Elkhorn, La Vista, Bennington, Millard, Blair, and Council Bluffs, IA areas.

“Several weeks prior to my due date, Kayla met our family in our home and provided education on what we could expect at our selected hospital. She demonstrated ways that my husband could support me if I did go into labor at home, and she helped us think through a birth plan that felt right to us.”

— Jennifer D.

“From the first moment of meeting Kayla, it felt like we had known each other for years. She had this grace about her that made you feel like a friend or family member. She answered all my questions and concerns I had and made me feel that it did not matter my age or what number child this was, that my body knows what to do.”

— Jacquelyn G.
